The Santa Clarita Valley Facilities Foundation received top
honors for its role in designing the first phase of Golden
Valley Road and the future Golden Valley High School.
R.T. Frankian & Associates, a
member of the California Geotechnical Engineers Association,
performed the geotechnical work on the site and received the
association’s 2001 Outstanding Project of the Year, and in
turn presented it to the foundation.
Foundation board member Teresa Todd
said the foundation is proud of the part it played in the
construction project.
“It was an incredible coming
together of various agencies,” she said.
Accepting the award on behalf of the
foundation was board president Rick Patterson.
“I’m sure we have all stood on the
Golden Valley site and felt the power of what has been
accomplished there,” he said.
The award is given annually members of
the engineering association for development projects that
exhibit excellence in overall quality, innovation, design and
geotechnical complexity of the project, as well social impacts
and design team interaction.
The Santa Clarita Valley Facilities
Foundation is a non-profit public benefit corporation formed
to facilitate land acquisition for the Hart School District.
R.T. Frankian & Associates has
been in business since 1963 and said it has worked on the vast
majority of Newhall Land & Farming Co. projects.
